The distance

How many times we miss this that is far away meanwhile we waste and undervalue everything that is around just because it is close.

The distance can be deceitful because it makes us to value and appreciate things depending on the proximity there is between them and us.

Because of that, when there is a big distance that separates us from something, we really appreciate it when we can enjoy it with nearness, and at the same time we are not able to take the best of everything we have within our reach to make the most with it.

In addition, the distance is relative because the kilometres that separate us from someone do not determine that we can feel closer or further of this person. Everything depends on the relationship and the interaction there is between us.

It seems to be true this that says “we do not know what we have got until it is gone”, to which we could add “until it is far away”. Because we just have to put some distance between two elements to realize about how much do we appreciate or need them.

It is also said that “distance means forgetting”, which can be true many times, but many others it helps to reinforce and consolidate this that even the longest distances cannot alter or damage.

In conclusión, the distance is the subjective perception that we have about the physical space that there is between us and something or someone that we would like to have closer. But also it is all the barriers and limitations that impede us to make shorter the distance with those we are closest to.
